## extract

Flood Watch — Northern Saratoga; Northern Warren; Northern Washington; Western Schenectady; Eastern Schenectady; Southern Saratoga; Western Albany; Eastern Albany; Western Rensselaer; Eastern Rensselaer; Southeast Warren; Southern Washington
Severity: Severe. Certainty: Possible.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...The Greater Capital Region, the Lake George Saratoga
region and Rensselaer Plateau of eastern New York.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Periods of moderate to heavy rain and a few thunderstorms
continue overnight into Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall rates
may reach as high as 1 to 2 inches per hour within the
heaviest and most persistent downpours.

Despite recent dry conditions, such high rainfall rates in a
short period of time can result in flash flooding, especially
in urban and poor drainage areas and where heavy rain
repeatedly impacts a given area. An additional 1 to 2 inches
of rain is expected for most areas in the flood watch, with
locally higher amounts possible.
