```
Fewer Americans than ever think that their representative in Congress deserves to be reelected ahead of a midterm election, according to new Gallup polling, a warning sign for incumbents from both parties battling for their seats next week.
Forty-three percent of US adults say their own representatives deserve another term, while just 15% — also a record pre-midterm low — say most members have earned reelection.
Independents are the least impressed by current representation in Washington; only 36% say their representative should be reelected, while 9% say most should be.
Congress is also struggling with low favorability scores: 14% of Americans approve of the way Congress is handling its job.
Notably, Republican voters’ approval of Congress has dropped from 53% shortly after the GOP assumed control of Washington to 29% today.
