Severity: Moderate. Certainty: Observed.
The combination of record-high temperatures and elevated humidity
levels will produce heat index values in the upper 90s to lower
100s Tuesday afternoon across much of southeast Missouri,
southwest Illinois, and far western Kentucky. Those planning to be
outdoors for extended periods on Tuesday should follow heat safety
measures, such as staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks in
a shaded or air-conditioned location.
