Lower fuel surcharges and scheduled furnace repairs squeezed operational margins despite a significant surge in quarterly net profit. Management anticipates earnings to rebound as production scales and selling prices recover. Find out how the upcoming capacity expansion will impact import dependence.
Borosil Renewables reported a 53% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹70.1 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹45.8 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 4.7% to ₹396 crore from ₹378 crore.
However, EBITDA declined 14.7% to ₹105.5 crore from ₹123.7 crore a year ago, while EBITDA margin contracted to 26.6% from 32.7%.
The company attributed the moderation in quarterly performance to a reduction of around ₹9.50 per square metre in fuel surcharge following a temporary decline in gas prices, which lowered reported realisations. Routine furnace maintenance also led to a slight dip in production, weighing on gross margins.
Borosil Renewables expects earnings to normalise from Q3FY27, supported by a subsequent rise in production levels and an increase in selling prices.
For the first half of FY27, revenue from operations rose 12.8% year-on-year to ₹801.8 crore, while EBITDA increased 18.5% to ₹258.3 crore. Net profit stood at ₹157.8 crore.
Executive Chairman P.K. Kheruka said the company's 60% expansion, currently under execution, is aimed at strengthening its ability to meet growing demand for solar glass and reduce the country's import dependence.
He added, " Going forward, our priorities remain focused on improving operating performance, enhancing manufacturing efficiencies and continue creating sustainable value for all stakeholders."
Borosil Renewables shares closed 0.90% lower at ₹390 on October 30, down ₹3.55, ahead of earning announcements.
