Skincare brand CHOSEN has raised an extension of its Series A round from Avnish Chhabria and Saurabh Kapoor, founders of Wellbeing Nutrition.
Prior to this, the Chennai based startup had raised $5 million in a Series A round led by Fireside Ventures in May this year. The round also saw participation from BOLD, L’Oréal’s corporate venture capital fund, Alkemi Growth Capital and other angel investors. CHOSEN had previously raised $1.2 million in an angel funding round in 2024.
The fresh funds will be used to strengthen its R&D capabilities and expand its formulation pipeline across topical skincare and nutraceuticals, with a focus on clinical validation and dermatological research, CHOSEN said in a press release.
Founded in 2020 by Renita Rajan, CHOSEN develops skincare products for melanin rich Indian skin. Its approach draws on the science of the exposome, which examines how environmental factors affect skin health, and focuses on four areas of ageing: pigmentation, skin texture, facial contour and hair ageing.
The company plans to establish a Centre of Excellence to involve dermatologists in product development and research. It also plans to expand its R&D, brand and growth teams as it enters its next phase of expansion.
CHOSEN’s portfolio spans more than 50 products across skincare, haircare, body care and nutraceuticals. Its products are prescribed by more than 2,000 doctors. In 2026, CHOSEN Sculpt became India's first topical lower face contouring serum, backed by a 12 week clinical study involving Indian women published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.
The company sells its products through its website and platforms such as Amazon, Myntra, Swiggy, FirstClub and Distacart. It serves most serviceable pin codes in India, with Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Ahmedabad and Goa among its priority markets.
CHOSEN also ships to international markets, including the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, the UAE, Singapore, France, Sweden, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong and Thailand.
The brand competes with skincare companies such as Avène, Heliocare, Cetaphil, Sebamed, Shiseido and Dr. Sturm.
