Two Multi-Client Studies Launched to Track Enterprise AI Barriers and Europe’s Digital Autonomy Push
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 7, 2026 — Intersect360 Research has announced two new multi-client research studies. The first, “Enterprise AI Adoption,” examines the drivers, barriers, and satisfaction gaps shaping enterprise AI investment. The second, “AI in the EU,” analyzes Europe’s push for digital sovereignty and autonomy in artificial intelligence.
The Enterprise AI Adoption study will explore the true state of AI use inside organizations, including testing, production, training, and inference. Intersect360 Research’s ongoing survey work has already reached 458 medium to large enterprises with more than $10 million in annual revenue. That work found that 84% of AI and HPC budgets are combined within organizations that run both workloads, underscoring how closely AI investment is now tied to high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure decisions. The study also found that while enterprises view product development, engineering, and R&D as the ultimate promise of AI< that category currently has the lowest rate of AI adoption within enterprises at just 31%. That trails well behind data analysis, analytics, and forecasting.
“Intersect360 Research studies show a substantial gap between AI workloads associated with horizontal applications – such as customer service chatbots – and those associated with science, engineering and R&D,” said Addison Snell, CEO of Intersect360 Research. “This study will surface the specific obstacles and enablers for adoption of these more advanced applications, determine what verticals are best positioned deploy AI for science in the near term, and help us gain clarity as to how providers can support end-users confidently deploy AI functionality into these mission critical areas.”
The Enterprise AI Adoption study will combine Intersect360 Research’s existing broad-based AI budget survey data, presented to sponsors as an initial kickoff, with a new quantitative survey of more than 200 additional respondents segmented across commercial verticals and geographies. It will also include a qualitative survey capturing 30 to 50 organizational quotes on AI adoption, usage, and outlook. Intersect360 Research estimates the enterprise AI opportunity will reach $100 billion in 2027, growing at a double-digit compound annual growth rate (CAGR), driven by hybrid on-premises and cloud deployments and shaped by data sovereignty, supply chain, and facilities planning issues.
The AI in the EU study will assess the state of AI adoption across the European Union relative to the U.S., China, and Japan, with a focus on workloads in science, R&D, and engineering, as well as the region’s hardware, software, and emerging technology landscape, including quantum, photonics, and fusion. The study comes as European institutions have made digital sovereignty a policy priority. The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has committed €7 billion from 2021 to 2027 across 38 member states, deploying 11 supercomputers, three of which rank among the world’s top ten, along with 19 AI Factories and 13 AI Factory Antennas. The European Chips Act is separately mobilizing €43 billion in public and private support to reach 20% of global semiconductor market share by 2030.
Both studies will be anchored by Intersect360 Research’s HPC-AI Leadership Organization (HALO), a global end user group that helps guide the firm’s research agenda. The AI in the EU study will additionally be informed by the HALO EMEA Advisory Committee. Research for both studies will take place in the fourth quarter of 2026 through the first quarter of 2027, with final reports expected in the first half of 2027.
Base pricing for sponsorship of the Enterprise AI Adoption study is $35,000, and base pricing for the AI in the EU study is $20,000. Both include full survey data and final reports, with optional add-ons available for custom survey questions, sponsor-branded white papers, and participation in concluding webinars. Companies interested in participating must commit by September 30, 2026, to provide input into the survey and discussion guide.
