July 16, 2026 — EuroTPC has officially launched, establishing the first coordinated European presence within the Trillion Parameter Consortium (TPC), the leading open, international collaboration for the development of large-scale AI models for science.
Building the Future of AI for Science
Founded in 2023 by Argonne National Laboratory, RIKEN-CSS and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center- Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), the TPC currently unites over 1,300 participants from more than 90 organizations worldwide around the common goal of developing extreme-scale AI models that are open, trustworthy, and built for science.
EuroTPC, funded by the EuroHPC JU, aligns European priorities in AI and high-performance computing with TPC activities to ensure Europe’s scientific strengths and infrastructure investments translate into meaningful influence over the future of AI for science.
A Dedicated European Gateway to TPC
At the heart of EuroTPC is the EuroTPC Office, hosted at BSC-CNS, serving as the consortium’s dedicated European coordination and engagement point. It is a lasting structure that provides a single, stable entry point for research organizations, HPC centers, AI Factories, industry, and public institutions across Europe engaging with TPC.
The Office monitors TPC activities and relevant EU initiatives, maintains the EuroTPC calendar as the reference for European engagement and serves as Europe’s link to global TPC events, ensuring European and global efforts remain closely aligned.
For AI Factory operators and national HPC centers, the Office provides onboarding support, institutional mapping of European actors already engaged with TPC, and matchmaking to connect capacity and expertise with active TPC working groups. For SMEs and industry players exploring frontier AI, it lowers the barrier to entry through collaboration opportunities and Europe-based hackathons and workshops. For the broader European AI for Science community, it maintains a knowledge hub of TPC outputs, reference materials and the emerging Roadmap, keeping the field’s pace of change accessible.
Beyond access, the Office consolidates European positions on emerging technical and governance topics and feeds them directly into TPC governance bodies, while tracking European participation across TPC structures.
Coordinated Across Europe’s Leading AI and HPC Organisations
Coordinated by BSC, a founding member of the TPC and a member of its Executive Committee, EuroTPC brings together leading European organisations including CINECA Inter-university Consortium (CINECA-Italy), Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ -Germany), Finnish IT Center for Science (CSC-Finland), and Neovia Innovation (France).
