Reliance Retail Q2 Results: Gross revenue grows 6.4%

Reliance Retail reported 6.4% YoY growth in Q2 gross revenue to ₹91,716 crore, with customer transactions rising 7%. JioMart recorded strong 42% revenue growth, while the retailer added 303 new stores during the quarter.
Reliance Retail Ventures (RRVL), the retail arm of Reliance Industries, reported a 6.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase in gross revenue to ₹91,716 crore in the September quarter, adjusted for the demerger of its Consumer Brands business.
The company's performance was impacted by the shift in the festive calendar to the December quarter.
EBITDA, before a one-time impairment charge, stood at ₹6,228 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 7.8%. The company said the 120-basis-point moderation in margins reflected the shift in festive-season timing, absorption of input-cost inflation and continued investments in scaling its B2B and Digital Commerce businesses.
On a reported basis, Reliance Industries' retail business recorded revenue of ₹91,717 crore, compared with ₹90,409 crore in the June quarter and ₹90,544 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹6,120 crore, down from ₹6,309 crore sequentially and ₹6,817 crore year-on-year. The EBITDA margin was 6.7%, compared with 7% in the previous quarter and 7.5% in the year-ago period.
Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures, said, "The new model with fast growing Digital Commerce and B2B channels is working and funded by the profits of offline business."
Reliance Retail opens 303 new stores in Q2
Reliance Retail opened 303 new stores during the quarter, taking its total store count to 19,947, up 0.6% year-on-year. Its operational area stood at 77.5 million square feet.
Customer transactions grew 7% year-on-year despite the shift of major festivals to the December quarter, reflecting continued customer engagement, the company said.
JioMart revenue grows 42%; grocery business records 3% LFL growth
In the grocery segment, like-for-like (LFL) growth stood at 3% year-on-year. The company strengthened regional customer engagement through festive-led in-store experiences and launched the Smart 2.0 format with AI-enabled ordering. Its B2B revenue grew 10% during the quarter.
JioMart delivered 42% year-on-year revenue growth, driven by higher average order values and a 24% increase in units per order. Its network expanded to more than 5,000 stores across over 1,000 cities. The share of Digital Commerce in B2C grocery revenue increased by 270 basis points year-on-year.
In the Consumer Electronics segment, like-for-like growth stood at 8%, led by mobiles, laptops and IT peripherals, as well as appliances, supported by brand partnerships. ResQ completed 97% of its services within 48 hours.
The Fashion and Lifestyle business reported steady growth, with like-for-like growth of 3% year-on-year. AJIO's catalogue expanded 23% to 3.3 million options, while Reliance Retail's premium and luxury portfolio crossed 1,000 exclusive brand stores.
During the quarter, the company launched Fabletics and signed an exclusive partnership with SKIMS.
Deven Choksey, Managing Director of DRChoksey FinServ, said the following on Reliance Retail's business, “They are trying to optimise the cost in whichever format they are operating by way of rationalising the cost structures. In past they continued with some amount of legacy effect, but in this quarter, they have discarded some of the stores and formats and that clearly gets reflected into the profit performance."
"One important point I think which I observed in the retail business is somewhere around 3,500 own brands in which I think they are operating the business is giving them a significantly big handle in form of getting the detailed margins. I think which they can get it from the consumer company. So, from that perspective, I find that the business I think remains absolutely strong and convincing going forward,” he added.
