Veeam stars in inaugural Gartner Privacy user experience MQ
Gartner has a new magic quadrant looking at a user’s privacy experience and data protecting, cyber resilience-enhancing Veeam is classed as a leader.
This Gartner report defines “defines the privacy user experience (UX) as the components of an organization’s privacy program that directly touch an individual. These components provide transparency and control over individuals’ personal data, enabling them to manage and exercise preferences and rights. Privacy UX provides organizations with a compliance-backed foundation for responsible data use by consolidating and synchronizing individual choices across all touchpoints, thus enabling robust consent management and efficient subject rights processing.”
Gartner says: “The privacy UX enables individuals to control how much personal data to expose, to whom and for what purpose. It encompasses all the touchpoints where individuals meet and engage with organizations.”
According to Veeam, its privacy UX capabilities offer organizations one way to understand, secure, and govern personal data across production and backup environments, so that consent, preferences, and rights hold up across the full data lifecycle.
CEO Anand Eswaran said: “You can't protect what you don't understand, and you can't promise privacy you can't prove. Privacy is a commitment that has to survive across every copy of their data, in production and in backup. Veeam is the first to unify data security, governance, privacy, compliance and resilience together, and that's why we lead this market worldwide."
Veeam gets into this MQ through its 2025 acquisition of Securiti, so gaining the ability to scan a production data set, such as a customer's entire AWS data estate, and map it using graph technology. It gained data item relationship intelligence and mapping, with users, essentially, being trackable data items with properties and relationships. Veeam now competes with whole new class of other suppliers in this privacy UX area and a look at the MQ diagram shows who they are:
There are 11 vendors with 5 leaders, Ketch being ahead of the others. Veeam is unique amongst the 11 in combining privacy controls across production and backup data.
It says that, through its the DataAI Command Graph, it applies data security posture management (DSPM) and classification across both live and backup data. This closes a long-standing blind spot, because personal data persists in copies long after it's been governed in production, and it supports prioritized recovery, so organizations can restore the most sensitive data first during an incident.
