Urban Company, the home services marketplace, will consider a proposal to raise fresh funds at a board meeting on October 16, according to its regulatory filing.
The company may raise funds through a QIP, preferential allotment, private placement or other permitted routes, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. The company has not disclosed the proposed amount in its exchange filing.
According to a Moneycontrol report, Urban Company is looking to raise around Rs 2,000-2,500 crore through a QIP.
The proposed fundraise comes amid rising competition in the instant home services segment, where startups such as Snabbit and Pronto are raising fresh capital to expand their operations.
Snabbit raised $56 million in a Series D funding round in April 2026, led by Susquehanna Venture Capital, Mirae Asset Venture Investments and Bertelsmann India Investments. The round valued the startup at around $350 million, taking its total funding to about $112 million.
Meanwhile, Pronto closed its Series B round at $45 million in May 2026, including a $20 million investment from investor Lachy Groom. The round valued the startup at $200 million.
Urban Company also raised $50 million through a fresh issue of shares during its IPO in September 2025. The public issue additionally included an offer for sale of Rs 1,428 crore by existing shareholders.
In Q1 FY27, Urban Company's revenue from operations grew 44% year-on-year to Rs 528 crore. However, the company reported a net loss of Rs 92 crore, against a profit of Rs 6.9 crore in the year-ago period. Its net transaction value increased 42% to Rs 1,465 crore.
The losses came amid continued investments in InstaHelp, its quick-service domestic help business. The segment reported an adjusted EBITDA loss of Rs 132 crore during the quarter, while the company's other businesses continued to grow.
The board will decide on the proposed fundraising structure and terms at the October 16 meeting.
