## extract

Rip Current Statement — Tinian; Saipan
Severity: Moderate. Certainty: Likely.
* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 10 to 14
feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip
currents.

* WHERE...East and south facing reefs of Tinian and Saipan.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM ChST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized
beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As Super Typhoon Champi continues moving away
from the Marianas, swells from the southeast have diminished enough
for surf to drop below 15 FT and for coastal inundation to no
longer be a concern. However, elevated surf and dangerous rip
currents will continue along east and south facing reefs through
tonight.
