## extract

Flood Watch — South Central Mountains
Severity: Severe. Certainty: Possible.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...The South Central Mountains, including the Ruidoso area
burn scars.

* WHEN...From noon MDT today through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms with rainfall rates
in excess of 1 inch per hour may lead to rapid runoff and flash
flooding. Areas that have recently received heavy rainfall will
be more susceptible to flash flooding impacts. This includes
areas within and downstream of the South Fork and Salt burn
scars.
