Gold prices remained near a one-week low on Friday as expectations of a US interest-rate hike gained ground. Investors turned their focus to the upcoming US consumer price index data for fresh clues on the Federal Reserve’s policy path.
The dollar hovered near a one-week high while the yen weakened for a second day in early Asian trading on Friday. Renewed concerns over energy supply disruptions in the Middle East pushed oil prices and bond yields higher, supporting the greenback.
Oil prices climbed on Friday, with both major benchmarks poised to end the week above $100 a barrel for the first time since mid-May. Rising attacks along key Middle East shipping routes are stoking fears of a prolonged disruption to global oil supplies.
Asian stocks and bonds declined after a surge in oil prices triggered a selloff on Wall Street, while fresh inflation data strengthened expectations of an imminent Federal Reserve rate hike.
Shares of Canara Bank, Vodafone Idea, Premier Energies, ACME Solar Holdings and several other companies are likely to remain in focus on Friday following key corporate developments.

The Indian stock market closed higher on Thursday, with the Sensex and Nifty 50 staging a late-session recovery during the closing auction session (CAS) to reverse all their intraday losses and snap a three-session losing streak, despite oil prices remaining elevated above $102 per barrel.
The Sensex rose 138 points to settle at 74,903 on the weekly expiry day, while the Nifty 50 gained 46 points to close at 23,478. Both benchmark indices were trading in negative territory ahead of the CAS before a sharp late-session turnaround pushed them into the green.
Indian equities ended marginally higher on Thursday, September 10, shrugging off weak global cues and Brent crude prices hovering near $102 a barrel. Selective buying in financial and oil & gas stocks helped the benchmarks withstand selling pressure, while the market remained range-bound through most of the session.
Domestic buying provided support despite concerns over elevated crude prices and an uncertain global backdrop, helping the indices finish in positive territory.
