The bank said it initiated necessary response measures immediately after becoming aware of the incident and has engaged leading experts to assist with the investigation.
“The matter is being analysed to ascertain the root cause, and necessary corrective measures are being undertaken,” the bank said in a regulatory disclosure.

Central Bank added that no customer suffered any financial loss on account of the incident. The lender has not attributed the disruption to a cyberattack and said the root cause is still under examination.
The disruption comes days after CERT-In warned that attackers were increasingly using AI-assisted and agentic tools to accelerate reconnaissance, exploitation and financial attacks, including by targeting exposed credentials, dormant APIs and weak access controls at Indian organisations. The cybersecurity agency said such tools could enable attacks to be carried out faster and at greater scale than conventional methods.

CERT-In and CSIRT-Fin had also recently issued a critical advisory on cyberattack campaigns targeting financial institutions through payment and disbursement APIs. The advisory said attackers had compromised internet-facing applications and partner-bank or payment credentials in some cases to initiate unauthorised fund transfers.
