Nvidia, AMD Commit $4B to Meta AI Buildout
Nvidia and AMD are deepening chip partnerships to secure long-term AI infrastructure business as Meta expands AI compute spending.
Nvidia and AMD are investing a combined $4 billion in Meta as the chipmakers deepen their relationships with the hyperscaler and position themselves for a larger role in its expanding AI infrastructure footprint.
Meta disclosed Monday, Oct. 26, that it plans to raise $97.5 billion through an equity offering to support its continued investment in AI infrastructure. Nvidia announced a $3 billion investment the same day, and AMD followed Tuesday with a $1 billion commitment.
As part of the expanded partnership with Nvidia, Meta plans to deploy more Nvidia infrastructure, including its Vera Rubin platform and Vera CPUs for next-generation agents, as well as Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and BlueField-4 DPUs, the companies said.
Nvidia and Meta also said they will deepen their collaboration on Meta’s Muse models and agents, which leverage Nvidia infrastructure. The companies are also considering additional work involving Nvidia OpenShell Reference Architecture to strengthen AI agent security.
AMD, meanwhile, used its Tuesday announcement to highlight new milestones in its partnership with Meta. The chipmaker said initial AMD Helios rack-scale systems have been installed and are being tested by Meta ahead of a broader deployment.
AMD also said Meta has deployed millions of Epyc processors and is a lead customer of its sixth-generation Epyc CPUs. According to AMD, Epyc chips support the dedicated computing environments behind Meta’s Muse personal AI agent.
Meta is also using AMD Instinct GPUs for training, ranking, and recommendation workloads and plans to deploy a custom AMD Instinct GPU optimized for its own workloads, AMD said.
Analysts said the investments reflect Nvidia’s and AMD’s efforts to secure long-term AI infrastructure business with major hyperscalers.
“This continues AMD’s and Nvidia’s investments in strategic hyperscalers to drive greater adoption of their platforms,” said Matt Kimball, vice president and principal analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy.
Brendan Burke, research director at Futurum Group, said both Nvidia and AMD view Meta’s AI agent strategy as one of the more promising in AI. Meta’s recent progress in training models and advancing its personal AI agent strategy, he said, suggests it has become a viable frontier AI lab, underscoring why the company continues to increase compute spending.
That gives both Nvidia and AMD a strong incentive to support Meta’s roadmap more aggressively, Burke said, with the potential payoff coming through future GPU and CPU purchases.
