## extract

Beach Hazards Statement — Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands; Ventura County Beaches; Malibu Coast; Los Angeles County Beaches
Severity: Moderate. Certainty: Likely.
* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves are expected
due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Abnormally high morning
and evening tides of 6.5 to 7 ft is expected.

* WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County
Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. Most
susceptible areas will be Long Beach and Avalon Harbor Tuesday
and Wednesday. Then, Mailbu to Ventura Wednesday through
Friday.

* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats
nearshore. Moderate flooding of sea water is possibly over
some vulnerable low-lying coastal areas, especially around the
morning and evening high tides, including over beach parking
lots, bike paths, and harbor walkways. Moderate beach erosion
is possible to likely.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a moderate chance that an
upgrade to Coastal Flood Advisory and/or High Surf Advisory
will be needed. These products will likely need to be extended
into the weekend.
