Online travel aggregator ixigo swung to a consolidated net profit of ₹63.4 Cr in the September quarter of FY27 from a loss of ₹3.5 Cr a year earlier, helped by an exceptional gain linked to the sale of part of its stake in Freshbus. The company’s operating revenue increased 12.9% to ₹321 Cr during the quarter from ₹284.2 Cr in Q2 FY26. Sequentially, net profit rose 85.2% from ₹34.2 Cr, although operating revenue declined 10% from ₹356.8 Cr. The bottom line received a boost from a ₹40.7 Cr exceptional gain following ixigo’s partial exit from electric bus operator Freshbus. The gain reflects both the stake sale and the remeasurement of its remaining investment. ixigo sold Freshbus shares for ₹36.6 Cr in August, reducing its holding to 8.27% from 25.66%. Consequently, Freshbus ceased to be an associate of the company. Before exceptional items and tax, ixigo posted a profit of ₹31 Cr against a loss of ₹4 Cr in the year-ago quarter. However, this was lower than the ₹44.2 Cr recorded in Q1 FY27. Other income increased to ₹22.1 Cr from ₹5.2 Cr a year earlier, taking total income to ₹343 Cr from ₹289.4 Cr. Total expenses grew 6% to ₹309.5 Cr from ₹291.9 Cr. EBITDA rose to ₹40.1 Cr from ₹1.5 Cr. The year-ago quarter included a one-off ESOP expense of ₹26.9 Cr. ixigo earns revenue through train, bus, flight, and hotel bookings, alongside value-added services and advertising. Its overall gross transaction value (GTV) grew 22% YoY to ₹5,304.5 Cr. ixigo Bets On Hotels & AI ixigo disclosed hotels as a separate operating segment for the first time in Q2 FY27. Hotel GTV increased 158.7% to ₹111.3 Cr from ₹43 Cr a year earlier. “We continue to invest in hotels and AI as key drivers of our long-term growth,” group CEO Aloke Bajpai, group co-CEO Rajnish Kumar, and group CFO Saurabh Devendra Singh said in a joint statement. The hotel segment’s operating revenue increased to ₹8.1 Cr from ₹1.3 Cr. The business recorded a gross take rate of 12.04%, the highest among ixigo’s segments. However, its contribution loss widened to ₹1.2 Cr from ₹71 Lakh a year earlier, although it narrowed from ₹5.7 Cr in Q1 FY27. The hotel business earns revenue through commissions and advertising. Bookings crossed 4.7 Lakh room nights during the quarter, up 295%, with over 86% of bookings coming from ixigo’s existing users. Its inventory covered more than 70,000 properties, including over 12,000 directly contracted properties across 1,100 towns. The strategy builds on ixigo’s existing train, bus, and flight user base to drive hotel bookings. The company said it continued to invest in hotel supply, product, and customer experience. ixigo also expanded the business through its acquisition of a majority stake in Brevistay. It acquired a 54.66% stake for ₹65.7 Cr, including non-compete fees, and consolidated Brevistay’s financial results from July 1, 2026. On AI adoption, the company said autonomous agents handled 82% of voice queries and 94% of chat queries during the quarter, resolving 43 Lakh queries in total. Meanwhile, flights recorded the sharpest GTV growth among the three businesses. Flight GTV increased 37.2% YoY to ₹2,184.3 Cr, while passenger segments booked grew 8% to about 26 Lakh. However, flight revenue declined 7.5% to ₹82.7 Cr from ₹89.4 Cr, while contribution profit fell 9.8% to ₹35.7 Cr from ₹39.6 Cr. The company attributed growth in intercity bus demand partly to higher airfares and limited availability of confirmed train tickets, alongside investments in customer experience and supply expansion. Shares of ixigo ended yesterday’s trade 4.34% higher at ₹144.35 on the BSE.
