```
Flood Watch — South Central Mountains
Severity: Severe. Certainty: Possible.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of central New Mexico, including the following
area, South Central Mountains.
* WHEN...Through late Saturday night.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Periods of light to moderate rainfall will continue overnight.
Then, shower and thunderstorm activity will redevelop Saturday
afternoon and persist through Saturday evening. Recent wildfire
burn scars in Lincoln County remain vulnerable to abrupt runoff
and flash flooding. While individual showers and thunderstorms
will typically produce rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inch,
multiple rounds of storms will increase the risk of flash
flooding.
