JioHotstar has launched its streaming service in the UK, Canada and Singapore as part of its international expansion.
The platform will offer more than 160,000 hours of entertainment across 12 plus Asian languages, including films, television shows, originals, regional programming, reality content, kids entertainment and anime. JioHotstar said it plans to add more than 30,000 hours of content annually.
Its content library includes originals such as Asur, Pritam & Pedro, Special Ops, Criminal Justice, Heartbeat and Resort, along with films including Dhurandhar, 12th Fail, Chhichhore, Kesari Chapter 2 and Kill.
The service will also carry content from JioStar television channels, including Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah. Selected shows will be available before their television broadcast in Canada and Singapore, while viewers in the UK will be able to watch certain shows alongside their television broadcast.
JioHotstar has introduced quarterly and annual subscription plans in the three markets. The quarterly plans are priced at GBP 19.99 in the UK, CAD 19.99 in Canada and SGD 29.98 in Singapore. Annual plans are priced at GBP 69.99, CAD 49.99 and SGD 69.98, respectively.
Existing Hotstar subscribers in these markets will transition to equivalent JioHotstar plans. In the UK, existing subscribers can continue with their monthly plans as long as auto renewal remains active.
The platform is also introducing interactive features for Bigg Boss. Viewers in the UK, Canada and Singapore will be able to vote live across its different editions. Viewers in Canada and the UK will also have access to the 24 hour live feed, while Canadian subscribers will get Bigg Boss Hindi episodes seven days before their television broadcast.
JioHotstar will be available on mobile and connected TV devices through the App Store and Google Play Store.
Amit Malhotra, Head of International Business at JioStar, said the company plans to expand its streaming offering to audiences beyond the Indian and South Asian diaspora.
JioHotstar currently claims to have more than 500 million monthly average users in India and a library of more than 300,000 hours of programming across 19 languages.
