Iran warns US against renewed attack, says it has ‘unfinished jobs’ too Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned against the U.S. renewing attacks, saying on Sunday that Tehran has “unfinished jobs” too. “Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too,” Araghchi wrote on social platform X. “Netanyahu is driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel—let alone POTUS,” he concluded. Araghchi has previously criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, referring to him in the past as a “degenerate gambler” who is “desperately seeking to save himself with more U.S. blood and treasure.” The Iran war – which is nearing its eight-month mark in around two weeks – has been broadly unpopular with the American public and contributed heavily to driving up energy costs in the U.S. as the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for oil exports from the Persian Gulf, has been closed amid the conflict. The conflict started with U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran with Netanyahu reportedly selling President Trump on the idea, pushed by Israeli intelligence, that a war with Iran could mobilize an uprising against its hard-line Islamic government. Araghchi said earlier today that the Strait would reopen within days on the condition the U.S. complied with Iran’s September 7-day ceasefire proposal, according to CBS News. The ceasefire proposal reportedly stipulated that Washington would release billions of dollars in Tehran’s frozen assets, waive sanctions on Iranian oil and lift its naval blockade on Iran; and only on the last day would the Strait of Hormuz be reopened. President Trump rejected the deal at the time, with several U.S. officials telling the Wall Street Journal the president was skeptical over Iran’s ability to honor its end of the deal. Earlier this month, the Defense Department updated the number of American service members dead in the Iran war to 21. The two deaths, which did not happen in combat, recently added to the Pentagon’s Defense Casualty Analysis System were Army Maj. Sorffly Davius and an unidentified Navy sailor, a U.S. official told The Hill at the time. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media Inc. All rights reserved.
