SoftBank has sold another 4.5 crore shares of eyewear retailer Lenskart for around Rs 2,888 crore (over $300 million) through a block deal, making its second large sell-off in the company since June.
According to the stock exchange, the shares were sold at Rs 641.75 each, taking the total value of the transaction to Rs 2,888 crore. SoftBank held 17.14 crore Lenskart shares, or a 9.69% stake, as of July. Following the latest sale, its holding has fallen to around 12.64 crore shares, or about 7.15%.
The latest transaction comes less than three months after SoftBank sold Lenskart shares worth around Rs 2,873 crore in June. It had sold around 5.65 crore shares at Rs 508.55 each in that transaction.
SoftBank is not the only early investor to have reduced its stake in Lenskart in recent months. Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) sold shares worth around Rs 1,960 crore in June, while Temasek offloaded shares worth around Rs 1,940 crore in July.
Together, these four transactions, including SoftBank's two sales, amount to around Rs 9,660 crore (over $1 billion) worth of Lenskart shares sold by large institutional investors since June.
The sell-offs come as Lenskart continues to see strong investor interest in the listed eyewear company. The company made its stock market debut in November 2025 and has since seen several large institutional transactions.
The latest block deal saw shares picked up by a mix of institutional investors, including Societe Generale, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, Sundaram Mutual Fund and global funds.
During its latest quarterly results (Q1 FY27), the company posted 43% year-on-year growth in its revenue to Rs 2,714 crore with a profit of Rs 228 crore. The company closed its trading session at Rs 658.75, with a total market capitalization of Rs 1,14,225 crore.
