Dear Reader, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the commerce ministry is identifying "AI-proof" professions where artificial intelligence enhances efficiency rather than replaces workers. Addressing Indian researchers and students in Germany, Goyal noted that safeguarding employment while capitalising on technological shifts requires focusing on sectors driven by human creativity and traditional skills such as handicrafts, handlooms, culinary arts and tourism. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s role as the primary financial engine of global AI development faces its first real stress test amid tightening credit markets for its partners. Beyond developing foundational hardware, CEO Jensen Huang expanded the company’s reach by deploying its own capital and debt assistance to fund AI model creators, data centre operators, and "neocloud" providers, directly subsidising the infrastructure needed to deploy its advanced systems, CNBC reports. ICYMI: India has slashed the cost of cancer drugs that could save the lives of millions of people. Lastly, while healthtech startups are rapidly building innovations such as remote monitoring and AI decision tools for frontline workers, scaling them across India’s public healthcare system remains a major barrier. Speaking at TechSparks 2026, industry leaders Dr. Geetha Manjunath (Niramai), Debraj Banerjee (Fundamentum Frontier Advisors), and Shekar Sivasubramanian (Wadhwani AI) pinpointed three key hurdles stifling widespread adoption: meeting stringent clinical validation standards, integrating into legacy public health infrastructure, and securing the patient, long-term capital required to navigate India’s diverse medical ecosystem. In today’s newsletter, we will talk about How Ultraviolette is dealing with memory chip shortage India’s flying taxi revolution Here’s your trivia for today: What Indian pharmaceutical giant, famous for pioneering affordable antiretroviral AIDS medications globally, was founded in Mumbai by Dr. KA Hamied in 1935? Electric vehiclesHow Ultraviolette is dealing with memory chip shortage The global memory chip shortage has put a strain on electric vehicle makers in India. Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette, which produces high-performance electric motorcycles, says it will not pass on the higher input costs to customers and is exploring other ways to tide over the situation. Memory chips are a critical component of an electric vehicle, used to store data, run control software, and manage real-time operations across critical systems. Cost factor: According to Ultraviolette’s Founder and CTO, Niraj Rajmohan, RAM (random access memory) alone adds Rs 20,000 to the cost of a vehicle. For now, Ultraviolette is scouting for alternative parts, including software, components and technologies, and alternative manufacturers to partner with. The company is also relying on partners who hold a stake in the company, including TVS, TDK Ventures, and Intel, for their know-how and expertise, said Rajmohan. He, however, did not elaborate on the alternatives. TechSparksIndia’s flying taxi revolution Speaking at TechSparks 2026, Professor Satya Chakravarthy, who is an IIT Madras aerospace professor and founder of eVTOL developer The ePlane Company, highlighted that the hardest hurdle for deeptech founders is avoiding the "technology trap." Rather than getting lost in complex physics and personal technical fascination, entrepreneurs must critically assess real-world demand and ask whether anyone truly cares about the product. Key takeaways: The inspiration for ePlane stemmed from a visit to Toulouse, France, where Chakravarthy discovered that 50 smaller aircraft manufacturers existed alongside global giants. To avoid the economic traps that have sunk rival aviation ventures, ePlane has designed a phased commercial rollout. With commercialisation targeted for 2028, ePlane represents a critical test case for the maturing Indian deeptech ecosystem. News & updates Cancer treatment: A new personalised mRNA vaccine for melanoma is being hailed by some oncologists as a major breakthrough. The vaccine reportedly reduced the risk of cancer recurrence and death by 42% compared with standard treatment in a late-stage clinical trial. AI security: Cybersecurity experts are sounding the alarm after the discovery of a major vulnerability this week. They are predicting that AI tools will expose more fundamental weaknesses in global internet infrastructure in the near future. The next few months will see a “vulnerability tsunami”, according to Jason Clinton, Anthropic’s deputy chief information security officer.
