Off the Wire Press Releases SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 4, 2026 — MIPS, by GF (MIPS), a leading technology provider for workload-focused platforms, has launched three workload-native platforms that bring Physical AI capabilities to industrial machines, transportation platforms and embedded systems operating in the physical world. These new platforms will enable the commercial and ecosystem development required for lowering modern AI on to tailored platforms with class-leading energy efficiency. “As intelligence moves into machines, vehicles, and other physical systems, compute platforms need to adapt to the workload,” said Sameer Wasson, CEO of MIPS. “MIPS is driving this shift with open, software-first platforms that give customers a common foundation to build, customize, and deploy Physical AI, with efficiency and tokens-per-watt as the foundation of our technology.” The MIPS strategy places software first in the design approach, using open-standard technology and advanced modeling to guide developers and platform designers. The path from workload insights to an optimized platform implementation is delivered by MIPS open & modular technology and expertise in safety, real-time, and AI inference for embedded custom solutions. “The momentum behind RISC-V continues to be driven by strong industry collaboration and a growing software ecosystem,” said Manuel Uhm, Director of Silicon Marketing, Embedded, AMD. “We welcome efforts that expand developer access, strengthen software readiness, and help customers take advantage of open-standard architectures across a broad range of applications.” “The continued growth of RISC-V depends on close collaboration across processor technology, software, and the broader development ecosystem,” said David Ku, Co-COO and CFO of MediaTek. “MediaTek welcomes MIPS’ commitment to open standards and its contribution of proven processor and software expertise to help advance commercially ready RISC-V solutions.” MIPS is driving the next era of computing with processor IP, software-first tools, and GF silicon technologies that help customers move from workload-specific architectures to production-ready silicon.
