Welcome to our 19,311 subscribers. 762 of you joined in the last four weeks. If you are new, one thing to know up front: TechWalk has no Slack and no Discord, on purpose. The community lives in two places, the walks and this newsletter. You meet people by showing up. Keep reading for 55 chances to connect: 19 walks on the calendar, 28 chapter directors, and 8 open roles. Join a walk, or say hello to a member whose name, title, company or background catches your eye. Have something to share with the community? Reply, and we'll feature it soon. In this issue Greetings from the LA Token TechWalk - October 2026. Were you there? Who did you meet? SF and LA Tech Week are in the books. Here's who made them happen and what's next. Two Tech Weeks, plenty of introductions, and probably a few messages you still need to send. As LA and SF Tech Week have wrapped up, here’s your nudge to pick up a conversation you started. Met someone building something interesting? Ask how it’s going. If you promised an introduction, make it. Found someone you’d like to know better? Invite them for coffee, or to your next TechWalk in your hometown. A busy week gives you plenty of chances to meet people. Staying connected takes a little follow-through. Pick one person and reach out this week. Thanks to everyone who walked with us in LA and SF, and to the hosts and partners who brought people together. Did a conversation on a walk lead to something good? Reply and tell us. We’d love to share your story. LA Tech Week Co-hosts - Max Chambers, Sr. Community Manager, Vonage - Autumn Moss Penaloza, Sr. Startup Program Manager, Vonage - Chrystal Price, Ambassador City Lead, Chicago, Lovable - Rachel Sunderland, Senior Manager, Developer Relations, Vonage - Christine Farrier Rosemin, Head of Accountant Marketing, Rippling SF Tech Week Co-hosts - Liz Acosta, Developer Advocate, Vonage - Christine Farrier Rosemin, Head of Accountant Marketing, Rippling - Chrystal Price, Ambassador City Lead, Chicago, Lovable - Matthew O'Donnell, People Operations Lead, Gamma How to get the most out of this newsletter This newsletter is focused on delivering four major values for each reader. Pick your lanes and we'll show you how to get started. Find a walk near you. The full calendar is at the bottom of every issue and comes straight from luma.com/techwalk. Once you register, you can see who else is going. Meet someone before you show up. Your chapter directors are listed by city in this issue, with links to their LinkedIn profiles. Send a connection request before the walk and you'll arrive already knowing someone. Speak at a walk. Let us know a topic you know well and your city. That's the whole application. Get in front of 19,300 people. If you're hiring, launching something, looking for a co-founder, or have a story to tell, reply to this email and we'll find it a home in a future issue. Speaking of which… The TechWalk newsletter is about to pass 20,000 subscribers, and we’re putting together a volunteer committee to provide strategic direction on the road to 100K. The committee will own the editorial calendar, decide how we spotlight members, and find new ways to get readers involved in each issue. If you’ve been looking for a way to get more involved with TechWalk, this is it. You’ll work directly with the founders, co-hosts, and sponsors behind the walks, and you’ll be in front of a growing global community every week. Join the info session on Saturday, November 7 at 12 PM ET and we’ll walk you through the roles and the time commitment. RSVP here. Community Highlight Know someone who belongs in the Start Up Leadership class of 2027? Great people know great people, and the SLP team is asking for nominations to help find this year's fellows. The form takes a minute. It asks for your name and the name of the person you're nominating. Virtual Demo Day: show us what you built In Good Company Co. and TechWalk are hosting Virtual Demo Day on Friday, November 20 at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, thanks to support from Lovable. The idea is simple: you don't have to be a developer to build technology anymore. Here's how it works. If you walked the SF or LA Token TechWalk, you picked up Lovable credits. Build something with them, then submit your build by Friday, November 13. Selected builders demo live for three minutes, with two minutes of conversation afterward. There's no pitch deck, no fundraising, and no need to have a company. Anything we can see and poke at counts, from an internal tool to a neighborhood resource to something only useful to you. Builders who submit but aren't selected still land in a post-event project gallery, and we'll pick projects to showcase in this newsletter. Haven't joined a walk yet? Pick one from the calendar at luma.com/techwalk. You built the audience. Can you reach them? You can have thousands of people following your work and still need an algorithm’s permission to reach them. Creators know the drill: you post, you pray, you check the numbers, you try again tomorrow. A newsletter changes that relationship. On beehiiv, you can build a subscriber list you own, reach readers directly, and turn their attention into a sustainable business with subscriptions, sponsors, a global ad network, and more. TechWalk Weekly Poll On 9/28 we asked whether you've built anything with an AI app builder like Lovable. The answers: 33% have built something and still use it, 33% have built something once or twice, and 25% haven't yet but want to. Another 9% picked something else, and nobody said it's not really for them. That's a decent crowd to have in mind for Demo Day on 11/20. This week's question: After a busy stretch of events, how quickly do you send out follow-ups to your connections? Same day, within the week, eventually, or almost none. Cast your vote below.
