Anyone can start building verified knowledge with Stack Internal

retained text

While most platforms stick to storing or retrieving your content, Stack Internal helps you and your AI agents make higher quality decisions by delivering knowledge that is context-aware, vetted by experts, and grounded in traceable evidence. We’ve built Stack Internal using the core curation mechanism that Stack Overflow has been scaling for nearly two decades. Now, we’ve built upon that foundation and enhanced it to fit an AI-first world, putting that trusted mechanism directly into the tools and AI agents your teams already use. Your organization won’t forget what it knows. With Stack Internal, your organization’s memory is always learning and improving so the next person, team, or agent gets decision-grade knowledge.
Today, we are announcing the general availability of Stack Internal. Now anyone can create and share their knowledge in a Stack Internal workspace for free by visiting stackinternal.com.
What’s new
In July, we introduced the Stack Internal platform to existing customers, giving them new ways to use their Stack Internal Community knowledge through Chat, API, and MCP. On September 30, we are opening the platform to more people: anyone can create a free Starter workspace, while organizations gain new options for bringing in knowledge from their own systems and governing how it is used. This release also expands source coverage and adds tools for expert validation, permissions, and usage visibility. Below is what is available and how to get started.
What you can do
Create a free workspace
Anyone can get started with Stack Internal by creating a Starter workspace. It’s a free way to connect to your top three data sources, capture and store verified knowledge from those sources, and even collaborate with a couple of teammates. Start transforming your daily work into living memory. See what plan works best for you.
Bring data in from anywhere
We have expanded our integrations to safely bring more of your knowledge into your workspace. Ingest critical context persistently from our out-of-the-box connectors. The new Microsoft Teams connector captures learnings from standard, private, and shared channels. And our Slack and Google Docs connectors now respect source permissions, allowing you to ingest restricted and private content securely. With this release, you can ingest knowledge from any source or tool your team uses via our new ingestion API. From wikis, repos, and ticketing tools, we’ve got you covered.
Inspect traceable evidence
Stack Internal evaluates knowledge using signals such as provenance, recency, expertise, corroboration, and human validation. For AI agents, those signals can be translated into a machine-facing trust score so they pull the best answers. The system also automatically flags conflicting information at response time, converting team know-how into validated institutional knowledge.
Get expert validation
It also automatically detects Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) based on topics. When a critical knowledge gap arises, users and AI agents can trigger an SME validation workflow that notifies the right expert directly in Slack. SMEs can then confirm or update answers in Slack, or they can manage these validation requests through the platform interface.
Deliver trusted knowledge anywhere
With our MCP Server, you can push trusted, Stack Internal knowledge into Claude, Codex, Cursor, or any other tool or agent your team uses. The code, answers, or solutions are grounded in your organization’s verified know-how, not just what a model guessed.
Access enterprise governance
Establishing trust requires robust governance, so we’re introducing custom roles and permissions. Administrators can appoint knowledge managers and reporting analysts, while managing who can view audit log data or delete content. We have added full activity tracking and self-serve exportable audit trails to provide clear source provenance for every agent decision. To track platform engagement, a new knowledge health and usage dashboard lets you view metrics like Helpful Answer Rate and Daily Active Users.
Activate your community knowledge
In our recent Stack Internal Community 2026.6 release, we laid a stronger foundation for enterprise trust by delivering centralized admin security controls, including header-enforced API keys, configurable rate limits, and automated lifecycle tools like article expiration to prevent knowledge decay. Building on this momentum, our September 30 release (2026.7) unlocks even richer administrative control and API functionality across your community instance. On the API front, 2026.7 introduces new v3 endpoints for aggregate reputation leaderboards, badge catalog discovery, and user activity filtering for answers and comments, alongside a scoped content-import API that enables seamless migration of questions, answers, and articles with full author attribution.
What’s next
Today, Stack Internal brings knowledge from the places your team works into the tools where people and agents need it. We are building the other half of that cycle too: a way to improve your organization’s knowledge flywheel, so what people learn while working is accessible for the rest of the organization to use.
Imagine an engineer working in their IDE and finding a fix to a problem that does not yet exist in your knowledge layer. That knowledge should not disappear when the chat or AI session ends. People should be able to bring it back into Stack Internal effortlessly, preserve the evidence behind it, and decide who can use it, so that the next person or agent that runs into this problem has decision-grade knowledge within seconds.
We are also building 'Scopes' to make those contextual boundaries more useful. You might keep working knowledge in an individual space, share a decision with your project team, then make approved guidance available across the organization. Each step should be intentional, with clear control over who can see the knowledge and which people or agents can use it. The same principle applies when a team’s information needs to stay within that team.
Over time, we want Stack Internal to make aging knowledge and conflicting sources easier to spot, involve the right experts, and surface relevant knowledge before someone thinks to search. The platform already helps bring knowledge in and deliver it where it is needed. We are building toward a system that learns from the people and agents using it.
Stay tuned. We can't wait to show you what we've built.
