Rip Current Statement — Coastal Bryan; Coastal Chatham; Coastal Liberty; Coastal McIntosh; Beaufort; Coastal Colleton; Charleston; Coastal Jasper Severity: Moderate. Certainty: Likely. * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...South Carolina Beaches, and Georgia Beaches. * WHEN...From Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High surf with breaking waves of 4 to 6 feet along the lower South Carolina coast and 5 to 7 feet along the Georgia coast will occur. The combination of strong northeast winds, elevated tides and large breaking waves will increase the risk for significant beach erosion. A High Surf Advisory may be issued for Tuesday and Tuesday night.
