IDC’s latest enterprise storage tracker shows booming storage market growth IDC’ s quarterly enterprise storage tracker says the market grew 33.6 percent annually to the second 2026 quarter, with Everpure growing its share at the fastest rate; 50 percent The company measures the worldwide external OEM enterprise storage systems (ESS) market and the 33.6 percent growth rate was an acceleration from the first quarter’s 28.7 percent increase, which number is a revision from IDC’s posted market growth rate of a 22.7 percent YoY increase back in June, as a Dell blog at the time also noted. The total market size in Q2 2026 was $10.34 billion, second only to the final 2024 quarter in the history of the tracker. The revenue rise was due to memory, NAND and other component price increases, disks for example, and enterprises catching upon deferred storage refreshes, as well as pulling purchases forward to ensure supply, and pre-empt future price increases. - All Flash Arrays (AFA) took most of the revenue, with $5.4-billion revenues, up 42.9 percent YoY and representing 52.1 percent of total market revenue. - Hybrid Flash Arrays (HFA) grew 25.5 percent YoY to $3.9-billion (37.5 percent share), - All HDD arrays grew 22.6 percent to $1.1-billion (10.4 percent share). High-end systems (priced above $250 000 ASP) surged 90.6 percent YoY to $2.7 billion and 26.2 percent of the market, driven by large-scale AI infrastructure storage deployments. Midrange systems ($25,000 to $250,000) grew 28.2 percent to $6.7 billion (64.8 percent share), while Entry systems (<$25,000) declined 14.6 percent to $0.9 billion. The top 5 vendor numbers were:- Dell, the market leader, grew revenues by 42.5 percent, second to Everpure. NetApp grew third-fastest at 35.7 percent. HPE (31.9 percent) and Huawei (29.4 percent) grew at less than market rate. A look at a chart of changing top5 vendor positions in this tracker is hindered by IDC’s inconsistent public publishing of its numbers, meaning missing quarters, but it serves to provide an overall picture; We can see Dell has a seasonal high in Q1, with Huawei in second place, while NetApp and Everpure have a history of changing places; NetApp currently being ahead. Huawei and NetApp have also exchanged 2nd and 3rd places in the past. With HPE Alletra sales doing well, steadily increasing QoQ, the next edition of this tracker could show changes in each of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places.
