Special Weather Statement — Pointe Coupee; West Feliciana; East Feliciana; St. Helena; Washington; Iberville; West Baton Rouge; East Baton Rouge; Assumption; St. James; Northern Tangipahoa; Southeast St. Tammany; Northern St. Tammany; Southwestern St. Tammany; Central Tangipahoa; Lower Tangipahoa; Northern Livingston; Southern Livingston; Western Ascension; Eastern Ascension; Wilkinson; Amite; Pike; Walthall; Pearl River; Northern Hancock; Northern Harrison; Northern Jackson; Southern Hancock; Southern Harrison; Southern Jackson Severity: Moderate. Certainty: Observed. Elevated fire weather conditions can be expected across portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi this afternoon and Saturday. Relative humidity values are forecast to drop into the low 20 to mid 30 percent range. The 20 ft wind forecast is at or less than 10 mph, which will limit critical fire weather conditions or at least the effective spread of fires that may ignite. Numerous local burn bans are in place and continue to expand across LA and MS due to ongoing drought conditions. This now includes East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes along with Wilkinson, Amite, Pike, and Walthall Counties. Regardless, outdoor burning is strongly not recommended this afternoon, and all local restrictions followed.
