Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy announced its Q1 FY27 results today. During the period, the company reported 89% year-on-year growth in its operating revenue. At the same time, the losses for the Bengaluru-based company narrowed by 71% to Rs 51 crore. Ather’s revenue from operations rose to Rs 1,217 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 645 crore in Q1 FY26, according to its quarterly report sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The sale of electric two-wheelers and related services remained Ather Energy's sole source of operating revenue, although the company did not disclose a detailed revenue breakup. During the quarter, it sold 88,655 vehicles, up 9% quarter-on-quarter from 81,072 units in Q4 FY26. The company also recorded Rs 43 crore in other income, taking its total income for the quarter to Rs 1,260 crore. Ather's largest expense continued to be the cost of materials, primarily battery cells and other components, which surged 88% year-on-year to Rs 977 crore in Q1 FY27 and accounted for nearly 75% of the company's total expenditure. Employee benefit expenses remained largely unchanged at Rs 118 crore during the quarter. Depreciation and amortisation charges, along with spending on legal, advertising, and other operating expenses, pushed the company's total expenditure to Rs 1,311 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 851 crore in the year-ago quarter. Higher electric two-wheeler sales helped Ather significantly improve its bottom line during the quarter. The company more than doubled its vehicle sales to 88,655 units from 41,083 units in Q1 FY26, which contributed to a 71% decline in net loss to Rs 51 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 178 crore in the year-ago quarter. According to Vahan data, Ather Energy retained its third position in July despite a 8.3% decline in registrations to 28,819 units and 14.89% market share. Last month, Ather approved a Rs 1,200 crore preferential issue, with existing investor Hero MotoCorp committing nearly Rs 960 crore. The India-Japan Fund (IJF) will invest Rs 200 crore, while the company's promoters will contribute the remaining Rs 40 crore. At the end of today’s trading session, Ather’s share price closed at Rs 1,280, with a total market capitalization of Rs 50,448 crore or $5.3 billion.
