Info Edge founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take over as MD and group CEO from December 3, succeeding Hitesh Oberoi Oberoi will step down from his full-time executive role after nearly 27 years with the Naukri.com parent Oberoi will remain on the board as a non-executive, non-independent director, subject to shareholder approval Naukri parent Info Edge said founder and vice chairman Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take over as executive vice chairman, MD and group CEO from December 3, 2026. He will succeed Hitesh Oberoi, who will step down as MD and CEO at the close of business on December 2, ending nearly 27 years in a full-time executive role at the company. Oberoi, who had joined Info Edge as a COO and director in 2000, is stepping down to “devote more time to his personal interests in education, entrepreneurship, institution building, investing and philanthropy.” Oberoi will continue to be associated with the company as a non-executive, non-independent director from December 3, subject to shareholder approval. Oberoi said he believed the company was ready for the transition, citing the strength of its leadership team and progress across its businesses. Naukri has developed an AI and data strategy, 99acres has strengthened its market position and become a cash-generating business, while Jeevansathi and Aisle have turned profitable. Speaking during the company’s earnings call, Oberoi said Info Edge had made progress in translating Naukri’s AI strategy into revenue-generating products. “We wanted to have a clearly articulated AI strategy for the company in Naukri. And I think we’ve done a fairly good job on that front. And it’s now at the back end, and now in terms of products, which are generating revenue. So I think we are sorted on that front,” he said. Oberoi added that he remained financially and emotionally attached to Info Edge and would continue on its board, subject to shareholder approval, despite stepping away from his full-time operating role. During Oberoi’s tenure as CEO, Info Edge’s market capitalisation increased from approximately ₹2,500 Cr to ₹80,000 Cr. It also expanded its portfolio of consumer internet businesses and emerged as a significant investor in India’s startup ecosystem. Bikhchandani Yet To Decide On Leadership Structure Speaking about his expanded role, Bikhchandani said Info Edge had not yet decided whether to bring in additional leaders or how to structure its top management. “Hitesh is still there for a month. And beyond that, he is there anyway and available. And I will be taking his counsel. I will be obviously talking to the nomination and remuneration committee (NRC). And we will figure out how to evolve the leadership structure at the top going forward,” Bikhchandani said during the company’s earnings call. “The first priority will be to give internal people an opportunity to grow,” Bikhchandani said, adding that he would consult Oberoi, the NRC and senior employees before deciding on the way forward. Asked whether his appointment was an interim arrangement ahead of an external appointment, Bikhchandani said no such discussions had taken place at the board level. “I’m 63 years old. So, I cannot continue for 20 years. That isn’t happening. But let me go in. Let the situation stabilise and then let’s see what happens,” he said.
