A Norman Conquest retelling “steeped in Viking lore and gore"

Nineteen Days in Autumn by Erin Goeres.
With the UK in the throes of “Bayeux fever” — the 200-foot tapestry depicting the buildup to the Norman invasion of England in 1066 and the Battle of Hastings, now on display in Britain — a scholar of Scandinavian studies “exposes the slyly partisan narrative of the Bayeux Tapestry, which frames the Norman Conquest as a morality tale of broken oaths,” The Times wrote.
Goeres’ retelling is “steeped in Viking lore and gore,” and argues that to understand 11th-century England, “you must know its place in the Viking world.” Buy Nineteen Days in Autumn from your local bookstore.
