Molbio Diagnostics made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Monday, with its shares listing at a 21.44% premium over the IPO price. The shares opened at Rs 980 on both the NSE and BSE, compared with the issue price of Rs 807. The listing came after strong investor interest in Molbio’s Rs 939.7 crore IPO. The issue, which was open between August 10 and 12, was subscribed around 70.27 times. The IPO comprised a fresh issue of Rs 200 crore, while the remaining Rs 739.7 crore was an offer for sale by existing shareholders. Molbio had fixed the IPO price band at Rs 768-807 per share, with a lot size of 18 shares. At the upper price band, retail investors had to invest a minimum of Rs 14,526. The company is known for its Truenat platform, a point-of-care molecular diagnostics system that can test for multiple diseases. Its business follows a model where diagnostic devices are placed at healthcare facilities and recurring revenue comes from the sale of test kits. The platform had 30 diseases and 42 assays commercialised, according to its IPO documents. Molbio has also been growing its financials. Its revenue rose to around Rs 1,455 crore in FY26, while profit after tax stood at about Rs 164 crore, compared with Rs 139 crore in FY25. The strong debut also came despite the grey market pointing to a lower listing price. The GMP stood around Rs 120 before listing, indicating an expected price of about Rs 927. However, the actual debut at Rs 980 was stronger than those estimates. The share price is currently traded at Rs 1008.40 (as of 10.51 AM) with a total market capitalization of Rs 11,628 crore ($1.22 billion).
