PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT
CORE B: RESEARCH TECHNOLOGY CORE
The Research Technology Core (Technology Core) provides computer programming, engineering, and data
analysis support to all Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) investigators who conduct research related
to perception and communication in children. This goal is accomplished by a skilled team possessing expertise in
software programming, hardware development, acoustics, engineering, virtual-reality simulation, and data
analysis. In addition, the team develops and supports access to shared facilities for research innovation, for high-
performance computing, and for delivery of web-based experiments to remote participants. For multisensory
research, these facilities include a new Anechoic Chamber lab and custom-configurable Auditory-Visual (AV
booth), with capabilities for real-time motion capture, dynamic visual interaction, and detailed acoustical simulation.
The Technology Core also supports rigor and reproducibility in research via standardized approaches to open
science, and dissemination of research technology. Together, Technology Core expertise and facilities provide
investigators with access to a wider array of high-quality technical services, equipment, and training than a single
laboratory can provide.document fetched 2026-07-19 08:08
