Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy reported 63% year-on-year growth in its operating revenue in Q2 FY27, driven by growing demand for its electric two-wheelers, while turning profitable with a net profit of Rs 1.3 crore during the quarter. Ather Energy’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 1,464 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 899 crore in Q2 FY26, according to its quarterly financial results filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The sale of electric two-wheelers and related services remained Ather Energy's sole source of operating revenue, although the company did not disclose a detailed revenue breakup. During the quarter, it sold 93,211 units. The company also recorded Rs 62 crore in other income, taking its total income for the quarter to Rs 1,527 crore. On a quarterly basis, Ather’s revenue grew 20% compared to Rs 1,217 crore in Q1 FY27. Material costs, which primarily include battery cells and other components, remained Ather Energy’s largest expense, rising 59% year-on-year to Rs 1,160 crore in Q2 FY27. Employee benefit expenses also increased 6% to Rs 121 crore during the quarter. Depreciation and amortisation, along with expenses on legal services, advertising and other operating activities, contributed to a rise in total expenditure to Rs 1,526 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 1,095 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Higher electric two-wheeler sales and an increase in other income helped Ather Energy turn profitable with a net profit of Rs 1.3 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with a net loss of Rs 154 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company nearly doubled its vehicle sales to 93,211 units from 52,961 units in Q2 FY26. According to Vahan data, Ather Energy retained the third spot with 30,479 registrations, accounting for a 14.71% market share in September. Its registrations rose nearly 5% month-on-month from 29,068 units in August. As of 3 PM today, Ather Energy’s share price had surged over 13% to Rs 1,562 per share, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 61,856 crore (approximately $6.5 billion).
