Certainty: Likely. * WHAT...Heat index values up to 110 expected. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Kansas and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...From 1 PM CDT /noon MDT/ this afternoon to 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ Monday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The hottest day of this period is currently forecast to be Sunday where air temperatures are forecast to exceed 105 degrees. For Saturday, there is some question about how high heat indices may get as drier air may get pulled down from aloft.
