Building a robust stock portfolio requires careful planning, discipline and a long-term focus. Investors should identify their financial goals, understand their risk tolerance and choose an investment strategy accordingly.
Following market trends and studying the moves of experienced investors can also offer useful insights. One such investor is Vijay Kedia, known for his stock-picking skills and focus on mid-cap companies.
Here’s a look at a fintech stock that has recently entered his portfolio.
Who is Vijay Kedia?
Vijay Kedia is a well-known investor in the Indian equity markets, with a reputation for identifying promising mid-cap stocks.
He began his stock market journey at 19, having grown up in a family of stockbrokers. At 33, he established Kedia Securities, marking a significant step in his investment career.
His portfolio is closely watched by retail investors for clues on where experienced investors may be finding value.
Which stock did Vijay Kedia buy and why?
According to Mint, Kedia-owned Kedia Securities bought 2 million shares of SaaS fintech firm Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services through a bulk deal on the NSE on 18 August. The stock surged more than 7% on the National Stock Exchange the following day.
The specific reason for the purchase is not known. However, the timing of the investment is notable.
On 17 August, Zaggle ended at ₹160.48, down 20% from its previous close. The stock hit a new 52-week low of ₹154.40 on the BSE the following day.
That was a sharp drop from its 52-week high of ₹417.40. Such steep corrections can attract value-focused investors who see an opportunity to buy at lower valuations.
This may have been one factor behind Kedia Securities’ investment in the company.
What next?
Zaggle Prepaid reported revenue growth of around 28% year-on-year in Q1FY27, reaching approximately ₹4,232 million.
Profitability, however, came under pressure. Higher employee, technology and integration costs, particularly following the DICE acquisition, weighed on margins. Net profit fell around 33% year-on-year to ₹175 million despite the strong revenue growth.
Adjusted Edbitda margin declined from 10.1% in Q1FY26 to 8.2% in Q1FY27, a 190-basis-point contraction.
The sharp margin compression has raised concerns about the company’s ability to convert strong top-line growth into sustainable profit growth.
Management described Q1FY27 as an inflection point for Zaggle as it moves from a decade of profitable growth into a phase of transformation and consolidation.
The company’s focus is now on optimising core operations, scaling AI across its platforms and integrating its recent acquisitions.
Over the past five days, the stock has fallen from ₹202 to ₹183.25.
Zaggle touched its 52-week high of ₹417.40 on 19 August 2025 and its 52-week low of ₹154.40 on 18 August 2026.
