The ten smartest AI models carry only 6% of the traffic on an open platform.
Hi, AI Enthusiasts!
Welcome back to our Friday Deep Dive.
A developer wiring up a coding agent picks a model the way a traveler picks a seat.
The front of the plane is the smartest AI money can buy: Claude Opus, GPT-6 Astra, the models at the top of every intelligence chart. The back costs a sliver of the fare and gets a model about two-thirds as smart.
On the open marketplace where developers can switch models with one line of code, 94 of every 100 tokens in the past month flew in the back.
First class is lit, staffed and nearly empty.
Anthropic and OpenAI are selling it to investors anyway.
