Four new AWS regions: Sydney, São Paulo, Central Canada, and Stockholm. Your agents, users, and tenants can now have a database close to home. We built Turso Cloud so every agent, user, and tenant can have its own database, and that database belongs in the same region as the app using it. Today, Turso Cloud is available in four new regions: Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Sweden. Developers in those countries have long asked for a region close to them. Some need lower latency: until today, an app in Sydney reached its database in Tokyo at about 109 ms per round trip, and an app in São Paulo reached N. Virginia at about 115 ms. In-region, that round trip takes about 1 ms (CloudPing medians, September 30, 2026). Others need to keep data in-country to meet data residency requirements. Both now have a home on Turso Cloud. Turso Cloud now runs in ten AWS regions across four continents. To create a database in a new region, create a group there and add your database to it: turso group create --location aws-ap-southeast-2 my-group turso db create --group my-group my-db The current list of locations is always available in the docs. When we built the Turso Cloud, we made a bet: in order to build a scalable system that would scale to billions of databases, be maintainable, and run inside customers' own cloud accounts, we had to build a system that was fully backed by Object Storage, in particular, AWS S3. The usual problem is that the latency of writing to S3 makes it impractical to run a transactional database. This is where Turso made a bold and novel choice: We write the Write-Ahead Log (WAL) to S3 Express One Zone, AWS's low-latency storage class, and compact it back into S3 asynchronously. Our choice of S3 Express came with a trade off: it was initially available in only a few regions. We bit the bullet and placed the bet: over time, the service would be available in more regions. For longer than we'd have liked, that bet meant that we had to make our users in those regions sad. We did not like it, but we were not ready to give up on the scalability and simplicity of S3-native design to our customers. On September 17, 2026, AWS brought S3 Express One Zone to seven more regions. S3 Express now runs in all four of today's new regions, so Turso Cloud can too. The same expansion also reached Singapore, Paris, Seoul, and N. California. We're looking at those next. If one of them matters to you, tell us on Discord. If you're building in Australia, Brazil, Canada, or Sweden, your agents, users, and tenants can now have a database close to home, with the response times and data residency that come with it.
