Runway's App Studio Turns AI Model Chains Into Shareable No-Code Tools Runway's App Studio lets anyone describe a creative tool in plain language and get a working app wired to its image, video and audio models. - Runway launched App Studio, a no-code builder that turns plain-language descriptions into creative apps. - Apps bundle Runway's image, video, audio models with your Brand Kits and team credits, no API keys needed. - Five showcase apps: Character Swap, Precise Edit, Style Out, Product Shoot and Table Read. - Character Swap uses depth-map guided keyframes with Seedance 2.5 to recast videos with new characters. - Agent sessions and Workflows convert to apps in one click; older Runway Apps migrated automatically. - Included in every paid plan; public link users spend their own credits, admins get workspace controls. Runway has launched App Studio, a no-code builder that converts plain-language instructions into hosted creative apps. Each app can combine Runway’s image, video and audio models with Brand Kit assets, workspace accounts and shared credits. Teams can package prompts, model choices and brand references into repeatable tools instead of recreating the same generation process for every project. Runway says App Studio generates, tests and deploys each app without requiring developers to manage source code, API keys or hosting. Repeatable workflows replace prompt recipes Runway previously released prebuilt apps for product photography, relighting, upscaling and background replacement. App Studio extends that approach by letting customers build their own tools, revise them through natural-language instructions and restore earlier versions through rollback support. Five launch examples outline the initial range: - Character Swap replaces a person in a source video with a character supplied through an image or prompt. It combines Seedance 2.5 with a depth-map-guided keyframe, which uses estimated scene depth to help preserve the original composition. - Precise Edit lets users mark regions of an image and restrict retouching to those areas. - Style Out creates character lineups, supports revisions to hair, makeup and wardrobe, and exports character sheets for downstream production. - Product Shoot transforms one product photograph into variations spanning different settings, styles and campaign concepts. - Table Read assigns separate voices to characters in a script, producing an audio preview before filming begins. Each example runs from a standalone URL and can be remixed into a new app. The build loop stays in plain English - Describe the tool: Specify the desired inputs, generation steps and outputs. - Refine the result: Request interface or workflow changes through follow-up instructions, with the option to roll back revisions. - Share the app: Publish a hosted link for teammates or other Runway users. New apps remain private until their creators share them. Shared links require Runway sign-in, and each visitor spends credits from their own account when running generations. An internal tool therefore consumes the operator’s quota instead of the creator’s. Workspace administrators can inspect app usage and disable models across the organization. Those restrictions automatically apply to apps built within the workspace. Existing Workflows and Agent sessions can also be converted into packaged apps without rebuilding their generation steps. Choose the surface by job Runway’s earlier prebuilt apps now appear inside App Studio, with no migration required from users. Integration is the main advantage App Studio arrives connected to Runway’s models, accounts, credits and Brand Kits. That integration removes the frontend scaffolding, credential management and deployment work required when building a similar tool with a general-purpose platform such as Replit Agent or v0. Builders can compose tools around Gen-4.5, Aleph 2.0, Seedance 2.5 and Runway’s audio stack. The available launch details leave several implementation questions open for development teams: - Extensibility: Runway has not specified support for custom code, webhooks or external APIs inside App Studio apps. - Deployment: The launch description does not cover source-code export, custom domains or embedding apps in another product. - Access control: Shared links require Runway accounts, while per-app roles and anonymous access remain unspecified. - Observability: Administrators receive usage visibility, but the description does not detail execution logs, automated evaluations or per-step debugging. Reusable apps change production economics Studios with recurring production tasks can package approved generation steps once and let other team members run them without learning the underlying prompt structure. A localization team could standardize product or character substitutions across markets, while a visual-effects group could turn a multistep retouching process into a focused tool for artists. Brand Kit references also centralize visual constraints inside the app. Operators use the same assets and settings on each run, reducing dependence on manually copied style prompts. App Studio is included with every paid Runway plan. Usage draws from existing credits, and Runway manages deployment and hosting. Teams already using Runway gain a direct path from experimental generations to reusable internal software; teams that require external integrations, anonymous access or source-code ownership will need clarification on those capabilities before adoption.
