Circular economy company Recykal has made a strategic investment of Rs 10 crore in biomass briquette and pellet manufacturer Walbha Industries. The investment marks Recykal’s entry into the bioenergy value chain, expanding its focus beyond waste management to biomass based industrial fuel. The partnership aims to connect Walbha’s biomass production with Recykal’s network of more than 620 brands and manufacturers, creating a demand channel for biomass fuel. Walbha will also gain access to Recykal’s technology platform to digitise and streamline its supply chain, while Recykal’s enterprise customers will get access to verified biomass fuel. The investment will also support Walbha’s expansion into South India. Walbha Industries operates a biomass production plant in Jhansi and supplies biomass briquettes and pellets to industrial customers across North and Central India. Founded in 2015, Recykal develops digital platforms for waste management, deposit return systems, circular commerce, and AI enabled reverse vending machines. The company says it has channelised over 3 million metric tonnes of waste and works with more than 650 brands and over 5,000 aggregators and recyclers.
