Lightmatter has announced a partnership with TSMC to co-develop COUPE, a 3D optical engine technology for AI interconnects (Digitimes). This collaboration leverages TSMC's advanced manufacturing capabilities to scale Lightmatter's photonic interconnect platform, which includes the Passage and Guide product lines. Lightmatter's technology aims to overcome electrical I/O bottlenecks by enabling 3D co-packaged optics for AI supercomputers, achieving bandwidth densities up to 114 Tbps per module (Lightmatter IR snapshot).
